riding and other thoughts

So yesterday didn't hurt me too much. I pulled a 20ish mile "fun ride" on the fixie this evening. I can tell my shoulder has deep bruiseing in there any time the ride got rough I could feel it. Cruised around and got down by Union Station and remembered that reggie fest was this weekend. I hung out and listened to a few songs and then continued on my ride. I do have to say that my fixie is my favoirte bike.
I was thinking about new bike theamed tattoos again this weekend. I found a place to see others work and to help keep me from repeating what others have done. Its here. What I do want to steal for a tat is this t-shirt design from the old school local "underground" Monday night race the Dirty 13.
The Dirty 13 was a night race behind what used to be a empty former school down the road from here on Wornall road. Racers would ride around the dirt/gravel track behind the abandoned school. Normally the first 12 laps was just a ride with lots of pushing and shoving, grabbing the guys brakes next to you, flipping some ones shifter, as you positioned your self up front for the "real" race which was lap 13. Many time the spectators threw things at the racers...things like chairs and car tires. It was good times and the winner always got a trophy that they kept for the comming week and were supposed to add something to. After the awards we would ride down to the 75th Street Brewery for pints. It may be time to bring the race back. It was good times.
I suddenly feel like I havent' drank enough water. I have been pounding it down for the last hour. I did decided durning my ride that my biggest problem as of late is that I haven't been riding to work. That needs to change starting tomorrow. I have commuted to work by bike less than half of what I was doing last year. Not good. I tried to convince myself that I was getting pleanty riding in by hitting the trail more often. That is just a lie I tell myself to feel better about it. Not riding to work means not getting in 30 miles a day, which leads to weakness when riding off road, and a fat ass. No more I say. Now we will see how that goes in the morning.
