Just got home from the Lenexa midnight bike ride....I don't recomend for people to go. I hate to say it but this is one ride that I hope fails and over the next few years less and less people go and then never happens again. The people who put on the ride were great, its the Lenexa cops that ruined it for everyone.
Ok first off I will admit to a few things : I had been drinking, I was not a registered rider, I didn't have the "proper" lighting on the bike (at least not turned on) and I wasn't wearing a helmet. However I was one of a group of around 10 riders like that. Of the 10 5 were pulled aside and questioned and two were give DUIs and arrested. WTF!?!?!?! Its a god damn bike ride you pricks!
I guess my saving grace was that I was being loud and happy, ringing my bell and telling volonteers thanks at each intersection. Other guys in the group were stongly questioned by the cops about why there were not registered to do the ride and in two cases were arrested. Why all the hate? I asked one cop if he was having fun and his answer was "No. I am working and its hot." Well fuck you then. Travis was getting some heavy talking to by a female cop at the FINISH LINE about why he wasn't registered, doesn't he think that doing that would have been a good idea, and why was he even there?
FUCK YOU COP! ITS A PUBLIC STREET AND I AM SIMPLY ON A BIKE RIDE!!!
How silly the night ended up being.
Lenexa cops suck...fun is against the law....don't ride a bike in Lenexa.
