crashing hurts...some times...

Quickly before I get too involved with me...if you look at my friend list there is a great gal in the top 8 named Stacy...if you pray or anything along those lines please do so for her family that is prepareing for a death in the older generation of their family. If nothing else think thoughtfull, peacefull thought for them as a favor to me....
So I was prepared to do the normal Taco Tuesday off road ride tongiht when the boss came to me and said, "Hang out as long as you can tonght. I think we will be busy and there is no mechniac working and only a couple of guys working the floor. Ok?" Roughly traslated...zeke work til close. Ok..no worries..that gave me a chance to do some receiving (my job at the store) since the service manager was out ill today. I spent the day staying on top of the repair shop and working on bike myself all day. Good times, things went well I thought. About 5ish I started doing "my job" and actually knocked most of today s work out. Split from the store around 7ish..geared up and on the bike at the trail head a little after 8. Worked in a good 1/2 hour before I really felt like I needed to turn on my light...of course I waited a bit too long to do this. Every one asks about my depth perception with one eye. I haven't really noticed it being more that a inconvience before tonight. One eye on a trail ride at dusk...bad combo. I still need to get in the shower and scrub out my elbow and knee...not bad but more than I was ready for. I didn't notice how high that root really was until my front wheel hit it and stopped....I did a gracefully OTH (over the bars for you not biker types) I do think I was laughing out loud before I even hit the ground...I laid there for a few minutes giggling before I realized that my bike was laying on my back and head...that makes it hard to get up when you feet are above your head and you have a bicycle laying on top of you. I struggled up and checked the damage. In classic dirt rider style I checked the bike for injuries before I checked me...none worse for wear in either case. MY left elbow is a bit skinned and sore...no biggie since I spent a couple of years with elbows bruised so much all the time that I couldn't set my elbows on a table...my knee on the left is a bit scraped and bruised as well...once again nothing to worry about. The worst part will be he soon when I get in the showere and scrub it all out...fuck its gonna hurt....oh well.
Other than that not a bad first night ride since loosing the eye. I was all pumped up to ride more but having already scared myself a couple of times and breaking one of my own rules (the rule being that my first night ride would not be solo) I decided to quit while I was ahead.
