The Heartland boys just can't get a break this year.

Just got this email from the boys over at Heartland Sports Promotions:

Heartland Mountain Bike Championship Series
Traditional Cross Country Racin’: Series Style

Wow.........who would have ever thunk it....It's almost July and it's still raining. As we stated back in April, this isn't the spring or now the summer for mountain bike racin weather.

Due to the current conditions, the impending forecast and some course recon earlier today: Truman's Big Love cross country, the series finale race for the 2007 HMBCS schedule, has been CANCELLED.

We are taking a proactive stance to preserve the sport we love because:
1. We are all mountain bikers and have a great passion for the sport.

2. All of our promoters are not only mountain bike racers, but also individuals that are active trail builders and/or stewards that will always try to make decisions that are environmentally sound and best for our trail systems.

3. We are racers and have always established the highest standards for Heartland Sports Promotions races. We want our races to be fun, competitive, and offer the best racing experience possible. If we know the conditions are going to be substandard, that is not acceptable. Momma nature just hasn't been very cooperative with our schedule.

What's next?...First off, HMBCS #4: Truman's Big Love cross country will NOT be re-scheduled. That means the 2007 series is complete. We will make an announcement on our website Monday concerning the overall awards ceremony.

A big 'ol' thank you to all the racers, spectators and volunteers who made this 2007 HMBCS a success....We'll see you all August 18th for the 7th edition of Rapture in Misery 6/12.

Please keep checking our website for continual updates. Wheels are in motion. Spread the Dirt.

Looks like I will spending my weekend on the road bike. I could use the miles and the training. It will give a chance to try out the new BKB kit on the road and try out my new Tioga Spyder demo saddle that came in the mail today.

Hey mother nature... KNOCK IT OFF!!

Wow! Hadn't seen that. It's got to be tough for the boys to have x'ld the race. I'm sure it's the best thing in the long run for the trails.

Well, that and the fact that it really sucks to be out there all day as a promoter in the rain, especially, when just a handful of people show up.
