Lets go AWOL

London to Istanbul via bicycles in two weeks (or less)?
Welcome to the Transcontinental Race.
Self supported.
No set route (just a few check points).
Get there as fast as you can.
Whoa....
Riding it I think I would enjoy. Racing it... probably not.
That is a lot of miles in a short period of time.

Last years edition was raced by two product developers from the Big Red S ( thats Specialized Bicycle Company for those who don't know) on a new line of bikes they helped develop, the AWOL.

A film crew tagged along and later this month (January 13th) a documentary about their adventure will be released.
AWOL has its own web site, We Are Going AWOL (lots of great info about the team and their custom AWOL rigs) and for the last month shorts from the film have been being released.
I am excited to see the film in its entirety. I would like to see an AWOL bike in person too.
Perhaps my local Specialized dealer will have one in stock soon and I can check them out.
