Finally a race

Looks like it could actually be a race weekend. Finally. My actual mountain bike racing happens during the Heartland Sports Promotions races. Or shop is a big sponsor and two of the three guys that "are" Heartland work there. So I work all help with set up and tear down and get to race. Most other weekends all season I am at a race of some sort working the netural support tent.
This year has been crazy for Heartland. A very wet spring has postponed the first 2 XC races in a 4 race series. The races take place rain or shine but I think the Heartland guys take the right approce postponing. In both cases the trails had been wet for weeks and heavy rain was forcasted all weekend. A bit difference than a shower one a dry course before/druring the race.
This weekend is HSP XC #1 "Crockadile Rock" at Lake Perry out side of L-town in Kansas. Last year at this race I lead out the first 1/2 of the first lap. Then got tangled up in the first climb. After that in the hilly rocky course I could stay latched to the leaders in my class. I started stoping to slam beers after that. I knew I was out of contenion for the poidum. Now it was all about having fun and just not being last.
I am wondering how things are going to shake out Sunday. I haven't really been on the bike much this week. Lots of work, visiting friend crashing at my house, and the weather is in the toliet. I rode 50 road miles and felt good last weekend. I have clicked over maybe a wooping 20 since then and I know most of those were on Sunday running erronds. Given the rocky terrain and how I know I normally ride there I am gonna say I aint winnin. But I aint loosin either.
This weekend is supposed to be a vast improvement over how its been the last several days. Sunny and 70. I will just be happy to be on the bike.

Lots of things going on in town this weekend. B.I.K.E. played down town tonight. I missed it. I planned to go but got wrapped up at the shop and ended up not getting out until almost show time. Oh well shit happens. The Hell Kats are putting a bunch of events. The is a flat track race Friday, a BBQ and Alley Kat Saturday, and Sunday... er... well nothing. I guess that is when every one recovers. Unless they are out at Perry. I am gonna try to hit the flat track race and after party Friday. K is in town for her bros wedding so I said I would go Saturday. And then the Perry race on Sunday. A nice full weekend.
