KC Sprints March 30th flyer and stuff

I found the new flyer for the KC Sprints event coming up at the end of the month.
March 30th at the Buzzard Beach
Its the post Critical Mass bash

KC Sprints at Buzzard Beach March 30th

Then there is this video that has been making the rounds.
Its funny but at the same time I fear that it gives cyclists a bad name.
Granted we do it to ourselves

"Just because we both ride bikes doesn't mean we're friends" - Surly Bikes

After being distracted last week and neglecting to measure twice, cut once I got Peg Leg's new All-City Big Block completed

Peg Leg's new All-City
Not the greatest photo but you get it.

Peg Leg told me via text that he feels the All-City is "Stiffer, smoother and faster" than the steel Specialized Langster he has been riding for the last couple years.
Looks like All-City has made a new convert.

I'm lusting for several of their bikes too.
Besides the Big Block the Nature Boy & Macho Man are on my want list.
May put the Purple Hipster and the VDSSCX frames up for sale to get their All-City replacements.
We'll see what happens.

New music Mondays?

Sure why not?
I have recently been introduced to a couple new bands and since they were shared with me I'll share them with you.
Granted since I'm tend to be a bit little slow, chances are you've heard of them and/or already are an avid/rabid fan.
But sharing is fun... at least thats what they told us in grade school.
So...

First up from brother Stevil over at AHTBM is a group called The Bronx

He's a little taste

The Bronx lite:

Mariachi El Bronx - Holy from Our Videos on Vimeo.

The Bronx heavy:

The Bronx - Inveigh from Our Videos on Vimeo.

I haven't hear much more of The Bronx than those two songs but I like what I hear and plan to find more and give it a good listen.

Up next is a band that I know has been around for a bit although I've just started listening to them (what did I say about being kinda slow?)
Introduced to me recently by a lovely lady I re-met at a Festivus party
Monsters of Folk

Monsters of Folk I've been listening to on repeat since I was loaned the CD.

Good stuff on both counts
Check 'em out

Music + Bicyles = Goodness

I had heard somewhere about this music video being made.
I haven't heard of or heard any of 30 Seconds to Mars music before.
I wasn't sure if I was gonna like this song but I do.

Dirty stuff thats not really dirty

I picked this up through the fellas over at the Slice o' the 'Ham
I've actually seen the movie. Don't remember why I rented it but it has it moments, even if you have to read the whole thing.
Its "dirty" but not really dirty. Plus she's on a bicycle so how bad could it be... right? (possibly not safe for work...unless yer self employed)

Speaking of dirty that aren't really dirty...
I love this song & video so its time to post it again.
Enjoy!

it seems you’ve mistaken me for someone who cares

My new theme song:

Dirt Bag - Brad Sucks

it’s a little bit hard to understand
but i only wanna be a modern man
on the wire____ it couldn’t be nicer____
just thinking about the one that got away
nobody wanna give me heart away
you could make your mind up___ it could take your time up
it seems you’ve mistaken me for someone who cares
I’m just a dirt bag under the weather... and overrated
it seems you’ve mistaken me for someone who cares
I’m just a dirt bag under the weather... and overrated
living underground taking it to the scene
making money not knowing what it means
I’m a liar____ set shit on fire
take your time talking down to all your friends
living with the little dogs and elephants
it’s hard to find it____ but i don’t mind it
it seems you’ve mistaken me for someone who cares
i’m just a dirt bag under the weather... and overrated
it seems you’ve mistaken me for someone who cares
I’m just a dirt bag under the weather... and overrated
hitching a ride with the bugs and the flies and I’m on my own
hitching a ride with the bugs and the flies and I’m on my own
hitching a ride with the bugs and the flies and I’m on my own
hitching a ride with the bugs and the flies and I’m on my own

Some mornings....

Morning After Pill by Louis Logic
Album: Misery Loves Company

I awoke unaware in a fog of whiskey
wrapped inside a coat from the hair of
the dog that bit me
I was lost and dizzy
and still feeling awfully pissy
when I noticed my alarm had missed me
god forgive me or at least my boss
with all this nausea in me I just need time off
in a big way, which sucks
because much to my dismay
I just used up all my sick days
oh I wish they made a quicker fix
to deal with the way the liquor sticks
when it hits your lips
which isn't a bit as quick
as the wise cracks, oohs and grunts
hit the lips of your homies
when you lose your lunch
or you kiss a chick
whose size of skirt and intimate undergarments
indicate that she likes dessert
I'm sick of it
I only wish the guys at Merck
would find a cure
to keep me sipping fine liqueur
for every time I had to drive to work late
let 'em line 'em up like every night's my birthday
the first taste is great
twice the same
the third makes lightning rain and the earth shakes
tonight's a game while tomorrow is harassment
say goodbye to shame
sayonara embarrassment
it's nice to drain a bottle with arrogance
and never think twice again when you wanna
wallow in merriment
I wish they made a morning after pill
so I wouldn't have to feel like such an asshole still
when I swig from every booze on the shelf
until I've had my fill to the gills and make a
fool of myself
you wouldn't smell like a liquor distillery
relief would be as easy and quick as a pill in me
one dash of aspirin, a lick of senility
and you'd slip from the grip of humility
three cheers for beer and forever
steering clear of the car crash that
always seems to come with your bar tab
cause cognac should come with a hard hat
just for when your flight nosedives and you
run into tarmac
you gotta be a sharp tack to stick around
sitting on a stool sipping stout til your lips are brown
first knock the Guinness out and switch to Murphey's
beer gut stuffed like we're twisted turkeys
it's a hurt piece to kick your work week
off by feeling lost with a wish for mercy
search me while you find a kid that's thirsty
who didn't know his woe was prescription worthy
kids from Jersey who cross the bridge and New York
is boozed like abused foster kids
and we all could use a cure for this
so get in line for a better life at your doctor's offices
for every time I made a scene in public
let 'em line the bar with Jim Beam and club mix
and never mind the life of pain that
you might sustain should you
forget to buy your miracle drug fix
tonight's a game while tomorrow is harassment
say goodbye to shame
sayonara embarrassment
it's nice to drain a bottle with arrogance
and never ever think twice again when you
wallow in merriment
I wish they made a morning after pill
so I wouldn't have to feel like such an asshole still
when I swig from every booze on the shelf
until I've had my fill to the gills and make a
fool of myself
you never smell like a liquor distillery
relief would be as easy and quick as a pill in me
one dash of aspirin, a lick of senility
and you'd never have to live with humility
I wish they made a morning after pill
so I wouldn't have to feel like such an asshole still
when I swig from every booze on the shelf
until I've had my fill to the gills and make a
fool of myself
you wouldn't smell like a liquor distillery
relief would be as easy and quick as a pill in me
one dash of aspirin, a lick of senility
and you'd never have to live with humility

You ain't artsier than me...

*one of my new favorite songs

Artist: Living Legends lyrics
Album: Legendary Music: Volume I
Year: 2006
Title: Artsy

You ain’t artsier than me…
Cuz you got sideburns and a vintage Tee

i said You ain’t artsier than me…
Cuz you pluck a guitar.. that ain’t f-ckin bizarre

You ain’t artsier than me…
Cuz you live in Los Felis, bitch you ain’t jesus

You ain’t artsier than me…
I got a colorful vocab… watch the low jab.

So what you’re a vegan?
It shows in your presence you be geekin’
and you be seeking the same life
speakin the game like the enemy

hang tight

I got a tail about 6 foot 1 by infinity
full of sun, rain and potential energy
all you saw were the K-swiss,
clean crisp creased jeans means this.

So you thought in ———– ?
thought-tipper, unzip the zipper
no I don’t wear hemp or drink liquor
and that don’t make me the man, just a little bit sicker

Spit-kicker with an eye fom the big dipper
from an island clip emerges a loud whisper
and I’m proud of this. it’s my art
You’re doin yoga just to look the part

You ain’t artsier than me…
cuz you chop up breaks and you dig in the crates

You ain’t artsier than me…
You’re just a trendy lesbian.. dreadlocked thespian

You ain’t artsier than me…
cuz you make weed brownies and knit wool hats

You ain’t artsier than me…
you pseduo-elitst old-school sap

Don’t let an 808 scare ya
shake stripes off your shirt and clear the whole area
I’m humanoid too
and if you’re cool with me then I’ll look past avoiding you
…instead of through
I’m down with VWs and flossed-out caddys on 22s too.

I Bang for good fools
I kill for nothin
I bill for something
family and peace

hand me the piece I’ll hit it… i’m social
hear my opinion. I’m proud. I’m vocal
local in a foreign place
more digital than dusty but trust me I be tourin space.

you be whorin’ at a comfortable pace
you be skippin a chore just to jump in the race
I be bumpin my bass like you collect comics
I’m not weird. I’m honest

You ain’t artsier than me…
cuz you only read books, don’t watch tv.

You ain’t artsier than me…
cuz you shop at whole foods in open-toed shoes

You ain’t artsier than me…
cuz you speak real soft and drink chai tea

You ain’t artsier than me…
I recycle too… I’m kinda like you

I just look cleaner. grown demeanor
wear deoderant… registered voter and
tree hugger too… not in these clothes
me lovin you but it’s gotta be both ways

most days I’m earthy, stay grounded…
often it’s a paper chase.. I’m well rounded
straight to face
it’s all boundless
i’ll make a sound universally dope

overcome adversity
reshape the worst of me
do it for the love and release it commercially
like a blockbuster started at sundance
you can’t stop man you only get one chance

presentation is key
hesitation ain’t me
innovation is my A R T
dedication is free
occupation is me
innovation is my A R T

You ain’t artsier than me…
cuz you drive a hybrid and carpool with three

You ain’t artsier than me…
cuz you a sixteenth mexican, you ain’t ethnic and

You ain’t artsier than me…
you’re just a broke-ass poet with the same old cadence

You ain’t artsier than me…
we was conscious first… welcome to earth

(Thanks to Javier for these lyrics)

Thursday night show

Gogol Bordello
They were fun.
Short show though.
I struggled at first because I don't know them.
Once I got the groove, the show was over.
Ah well.
Good times and the scenery was nice.
I would see them again.
Been meaning to copy some of their music from Mr Joshua's IPod. Now I have a little bit more motivation.
Short show isn't too bad of a thing considering its a "school night".
Went to a couple of bars, had a couple of drinks, saw a couple of friends, went to a good show, and home by midnight.
Not too bad, I'd say.
