3 Great Tastes That Go Great Together

What happens when you combine cycling, great music and amazing videography?
You get things like the videos below.
These have been making the rounds as of late but I like them so much that I just had to post them myself. Plus this way when I want to view them again (and again and again) I know exactly where to find them. Clever eh?
They are amazing to me for similar but different reasons.
Similar being the wonderful music and well shot scenery
Different being the completely separate disciplines of cycling they represent.

First up is Thirty Century Man which I pick up off of FaceBook thanks to Hurl. The version below is the Viemo version that I found via Prolly Is Not Probably. It is the same as the NOWNESS.com version just smaller.
For the full effect & the story behind it, I suggest viewing the original here

Next we have some Trials action from across the pond.
I have seen this posted other places but could never get it to load. I found a working version today while surfing Fyxomatosis.
Red Bull rider Danny MacAskill has some amazing skills. The music and once again the scenery are amazing as well.
Check it out below or here:

Hope all you working stiffs have a good Wednesday.
Think I'll go for a bike ride.

Ahh... July. Sunburns. Fireworks. the RAGBRAI!!

Its July which means its time to head north for the RAGBRAI

ragbrai_2010_map_large
I don't know Ron but I sure do thank for him the use of his 2010 route map. Strangely it was the only one I could find

I head out Friday, the 23rd, from Omaha with the Dutch .
The official RAGBRAI starts Sunday, the 25th, out of Souix City.

The Go, Dutch, Go! Plan:

Friday, Saturday & Sunday we'll work our way North East to the official route via Earling & Breda to Pocahantas.
We pick up the offical route there on what for RAGBRAI is Day 2 to Algona.
It will be our 4th day of riding.
Ah yes.... good times are a come'n

I'm really ready for a vacation. The RAGBRAI fits the bill nicely.
Its a great time that I think everyone should do once.
I think this is my 10th pilgrimage
I've made some great friends on the RAGBRAI & I can't wait to see them

4 days...

Once again this year I'll be attempting to make posts from the road to my Twitter
Granted this is dependant on getting phone reception. Which in years past on the RAGBRAI has been spotty. We'll see what happens
I'll be back to file a full report next month

Another new bike Zeke? Yes. Yes indeed.

I've been riding a Surly Pacer for the last 5-ish years but it was a touch small. I finally sold it & have been running slicks on my CX bike for road riding.
It didn't take long before I decided that I missed having a traditional road bike so I got another Surly Pacer.
I figured I could save up some more coin and get something nicer but why? I know I like the Pacer & its a very affordable ride.
It arrived today so I went into the shop on my day of to get it built up.
Salsa Casseroll fork w/Shimano R540 long reach road caliper brake
Chris King head set
Shimano Dura Ace and Ultregra 10 speed mix for the drive train
Turned out really sharp looking. Better than I expected actually.
Done with the new bike build
I had had my mind set on getting the British Racing Green version but they were sold out.
Until today when I saw the Silver Bullet paint job for the first time I wasn't sure I was gonna like it. But I really do.
I'll post some more photos as I take them over on my Flickr page
Now if only this rain would move out of the area so I could get a good test ride in.

Music + Bicyles = Goodness

I had heard somewhere about this music video being made.
I haven't heard of or heard any of 30 Seconds to Mars music before.
I wasn't sure if I was gonna like this song but I do.

50 Miles on Saturday... *added map link

We lost Shannon 10 minutes after finding him
Where the #@%&! is Shannon

We headed East to Longview Lake, looped around the lake back towards town, through Swope Park and stopped at BB's Lawnside BBQ for BBQ nachos and beer
